ApacheCon 2004

148793328 8ec39ba808 t ApacheCon 2004I could not not really believe it when I got the mail! …but it seems like I really gonna be speaking at the ApacheCon 2004. …about continuations. It’s an honor and I am really looking forward to meet up with some people in Las Vegas. So folks – the registration is open. Catch the early-bird rate and …see you there!

…and/or at the GetTogether in Ghent – of course.

SVG support for Firefox

Quite a while ago the Adobe SVG plugin has stopped working for newer releases for mozilla and firefox. Adobe was using some functionality that was not part of the plugin interface. As it was not part of any contract, the functionality has been removed. So either you ended up using an old browser version or you had to go for the SVG branch of mozilla/firebox. Unfortunately there are still only mozilla builds available. Actually I think it would be great to have SVG support included by default. Hope it’s coming along soon. For now you have to use the beta version of the Adobe SVG plugin.

For windows:
The viewer installs into the “Shared Files/Adobe” folder under “Programs”. Copy the “NPSVG6.dll” into your firefox plugins folder and restart the browser.

iMod

I finally I found a way to disable the stupid volume limit of my european iPod. After I updated my iPod to the latest firmware (which is currently 2.2 – you can check under settings -> about) I was able to apply the iMod patch/hack. And it works perfect! Wow! What a difference! Thanks, guys!

For the one’s using the windows tool to apply the patch: make sure the iPod is mounted as drive. Otherwise you’ll get “iPod not found or not unsupported”

The Wallez Family

148793264 bc22e8fbb6 t The Wallez FamilyOn my vacation I met up with Sylvain and his familiy. They were camping about a hour south of Mimizan. Really, really cool – they drove up all they way to meet up with me! We went out for dinner and had a beer afterwards. I hope his folks haven’t been too bored when we came across the obvious cocoon topic :-) Was great fun for me.

I confess: no computer for two weeks – but there had to be some cocoon discussion ;-)

Back From France

148793216 ec82a2c8c5 t Back From FranceAfter a 14 hour train ride I got home from my vacation in Mimizan. The Surfcamp was really fun! Ok, the surf conditions have not been perfect. A low pressure area gave us remarkably high waves (for france) and a very strong swell. 148793226 46ac07819f t Back From France Most of the time we had a strong on-shore wind giving us turbulent water and not the clean waves every surfer dreams of. Sometimes a very strong current. But it was also two weeks of…

…wearing only boardshorts (and maybe a t-shirt)
…walking bare food in the sand all day long
…meeting a lot of new people
…good conversations all night long
…hanging out at the beach
…listening to music or reading in the hammock
…watching surf films and videos after an exhausting day
…baguette and cheese :-)
…nature

To sum it up: it was great!
